VFW Post 1082 Contributes to Scholarship Fund V.F.W. French-Bartlett Post 1082 of Bedford, Ohio, has
contributed $1,400 to the scholarship fund of the Electrical Manufacturing &
Coil Winding Association (EMCWA), specifying that it go to scholarships for
universities in the state of Ohio. The contribution was made possible through Post 1082’s
Charitable Bingo License. Commander Joe Bright made the scholarship check
presentation to Post 1082 Ladies Auxiliary member, Linda Calkins, who is also a
member of EMCWA. Post 1082 Officer of the Day, Terry Ostrander, and Trustee, Ron
Baxter, were also present for the presentation. V.F.W. French-Bartlett Post 1082 worked with the state in
2003 to make the Post a legal charity in Ohio and received the Charitable Bingo
License in 2003. As a result, a large percentage of the proceeds from Post 1082
Bingo are earmarked for 501C3 charities for the purpose of education and
scholarships. During 2004, Post 1082 contributed over $64,000 to 10
different 501C3 charities for scholarships. EMCWA has now been added to this
list. Commander Joe Bright stated,
“EMCWA’s educational mission in providing scholarships to encourage
technical and engineering opportunities to strengthen the electrical
manufacturing industry in the United States fits well with Post 1082’s
